Want to know what kind of septic system you have, how big the tank is, or where the drain field runs? The county permit file is the best place to look. Here’s how to get it in Bastrop County.
Can you look up septic permits online in Bastrop County?
No. We couldn’t find a public septic permit search for Bastrop County. Call the county’s Environmental and Sanitation Services office at (512) 581-7176, or send a public information request. Give them your address or property ID.
If they can’t find a file, ask them to tell you that in writing. That’s good to have if you sell.
What the permit file can tell you
- If your system is conventional or aerobic
- How big your tank is
- A drawing of where the tank and drain field are
- When it was put in, and who put it in
What if there’s no file?
That happens a lot with older homes. Many systems put in before the 1990s were never written down. No file doesn’t mean something is wrong. It just means we find out the old way, by looking.
