Want to know what kind of septic system you have, how big the tank is, or where the drain field runs? The county permit file is the best place to look. Here’s how to get it in Guadalupe County.

Can you look up septic permits online in Guadalupe County?

No. Guadalupe County doesn’t have a public septic permit search. But the Environmental Health office will search for you by address or legal description. Call (830) 303-8858 or email [email protected].

Parts of New Braunfels are in Comal County. If your home is on that side, ask Comal County instead.

What the permit file can tell you

  • If your system is conventional or aerobic
  • How big your tank is
  • A drawing of where the tank and drain field are
  • When it was put in, and who put it in

What if there’s no file?

That happens a lot with older homes. Many systems put in before the 1990s were never written down. No file doesn’t mean something is wrong. It just means we find out the old way, by looking.
